  • California's minimum wage is $8.00 per hour.
  • California minimum wage cannot be waived by any agreement.

California Overtime Law:

  • Non-exempt workers should receive overtime pay when working more than 8 hours in a day, 40 hours in a week or six days in a week.
  • Overtime must be provided, regardless of where the time was authorized.
  • There are several exemptions under California overtime law.
  • Employees should be compensated for hours in which he or she is "suffered or permitted to work." In other words, employees should be paid for time spend doing work the employer knew or should have known about.
