What is the Illinois minimum wage?
For workers ages 18 and older, the minimum wage in Illinois is $8.00. Employees not receiving tips may be paid $7.50 for the initial 90 days of employment.Workers under the age of 18 can receive $7.50 per hour.
What is the tipped minimum wage in Illinois?
Tipped employees must be compensated at a rate of at least minimum wage per hour, but the employer can take credit for the worker's tips in an amount that does not exceed 40% of the wages. A training wage can be paid for tipped workers who are at least 18 years of age in the amount of $4.50 for the first 90 days of employment if applying the tip credit of 40% or $7.50 if not using the tip credit. After this initial period, the rate must be increased to $4.80 if using the tip credit of 40% or $8.00 if not using the tip credit.
When should I be paid overtime?
You are entitled to pay at time and one half your regular rate of pay if you worked over 40 hours in a workweek.
