Maryland Minimum Wage & Overtime Basics

Maryland Minimum Wage:

  • The minimum wage in Maryland is $7.25 per hour.
  • The Maryland minimum wage is the same as the federal rate.

Maryland Overtime Law:

  • Non-exempt employees should receive time-and-half compensation (1.5 times their regular rate) when working more than 40 hours in a 7-day week.
  • Maryland overtime law establishes different overtime "thresholds" for certain occupations. For instance, farmworkers must work more than 60 hours in a week to receive overtime.
