Final Wages in Minnesota
Back to Minnesota Overtime Law
If an employee requests their final paycheck, all wages due to the employee must be given within 24 hours. Employees who quit must receive their final wages within the next regularly scheduled payday which is more than five days after quitting. Minnesota wage and hour law states that final wages must be provided within 20 days of separation. If an employee quits or is fired but was entrusted with money or property during the course of their job, the employer receives an extra 10 days to provide the worker’s final paycheck. This additional time period is provided to allow the employer time to audit the employee’s account.
