Are Mississippi workers entitled to meal or rest breaks?
Neither federal nor Mississippi wage and hour law requires employers to provide breaks to their employees. However, many employers offer breaks to increase productivity.
Employers who choose to do so must compensate workers for breaks that last less than 20 minutes. Meal periods, which typically last 30 minutes, do not need to be compensated as long as the employee is completely relieved of their job duties.
Are workers in Mississippi entitled to vacation days, sick leave and severance pay?
Mississippi wage and hour law does not require employers to offer vacation days, sick leave or severance pay.
