Montana Final Wages Law

Back to Montana Overtime Law

The following are the guidelines under Montana Wage and Hour law regarding final wages:

Employees who are fired/laid off: The employer owes the worker their wages within four hours or the end of the work day, whichever occurs first. Only a written company policy can extend payment of final wages beyond the next regularly scheduled payday or 15 calendar days.

Employees who quit: The employer must pay the employee's final wages by the next regularly scheduled payday or 15 days, whichever occurs first.
