New Jersey Minimum Wage Law:
- The New Jersey minimum wage is $7.25 per hour. This NJ minimum wage took effect on July 24, 2009.
- While most workers are covered New Jersey minimum wage law, there are exceptions. Certain employees including car salespeople, outside salespeople and minors employed in certain industries may be exempt from New Jersey minimum wage law.
New Jersey Overtime Law:
- Workers should receive one-and-a-half times their regular hourly rate for all hours worked over 40 in a single workweek.
- Executive, administrative, and professional employees who are paid on a salary basis are exempt from time-and-a-half compensation under New Jersey overtime law.
New Jersey Wage and Hour Law: Final Wages
Employees who quit or were fired must receive their last paycheck by the next regularly scheduled payday.
